Cliftonville Community Regeneration Forum
Recycling
The number of local residents recycling has dramatically improved over the past six months. This was achieved by working with Bryson House and arranging for them to go out and canvas over 1000 local residents. Over 100 local residents have either requested their 1st recycling box or an additional recycling box after the canvassing appeal.
Housing and Environmental Officer , Eamon McElhinney, was appointed by Cliftonville Community Regeneration Forum (CCRF) in July 2007.
Based in 185 Cliftonpark Avenue, Eamon works in the Cliftonville, Cavehill/Antrim Road areas of north Belfast. As CCRF is the lead partner for the Cliftonville Antrim Road CEP, the Housing and Environmental Officer is an excellent resource for both CCRF and the CEP.
Housing Advice Clinic
A Housing Advice Clinic takes place every Tuesday and Thursday in 185 Cliftonpark Avenue. This allows local residents to drop in and seek advice and guidance on a variety of issues such as:
- Repairs
- Removal of bulky items
- Pest control
- Homelessness
Eamon works with statutory agencies, including the NIHE, Belfast City Council and Bryson House to help solve these issues.
Empowering the community
Housing and environmental meetings have been organised in various areas: Cavehill/Antrim Road, Brucevale, Lincoln Avenue and Torres. These have been very positive and are ongoing. Meetings are currently being planned to develop interest in the Manor Street and Oldpark Avenue areas.
