Soft furnishings
This is a basic sewing course which will teach you how to make handy crafts and materials for the home. The course begin in September but we are creating the waiting list now.
Flower arranging
This will be a beginner’s course and will be unaccredited. You will learn the basics of flower arranging and find out how to grow your own flowers and vegetables.
ECDL
This is a computer course which will teach you how to use the internet, spreadsheets, databases, Powerpoint and Word. This is a 26-week long course and is accredited at Level 2. This course is for individuals who have some knowledge in using computers.
Drug Awareness Level 2
This course will be directed at parents to give them the knowledge of drugs that are being widely used on our streets today.
The course will also incorporate a site visit to Dublin to look at a rehabilitation centre and the effects that drugs have had on a community there.
Funding Training Level 2
This course will be delivered by Ulster People’s College and will involve the practical knowledge required to begin completing funding applications. Participants will complete a mock funding application and a workbook.
BCS User Level 1: Basic Computers
No knowledge of computers at all? This is the course for you! Even if you can’t turn a computer on when you start, you’ll be amazed at what you will learn on the course. This is a 10-week course and will be delivered in your local area.
Irish history for men
This course will begin again over the summer and will look at different periods of Irish history and discuss more in-depth the topics involved. This class will also begin to look at European history including Auswitch. Site visits will be part of this class. More men welcome!
People’s history
The people’s history is a short 8-week course that will explore the history of the participants in that community in the context of key historical events which have shaped the history of the North of Ireland and Ireland.
This course will be delivered in CARR, 545 Antrim Road and would welcome participants from Antrim Road, Glandore and Fortwilliam etc. Both men and women are welcome on this course.
Women’s DIY
Women - If you’re fed up waiting for someone else to do those odd jobs around the house, why not learn skills like joinery and electrics for yourself?
Enrol now for a place on this popular ten-week course.

Bingo, films and painting are just some of the activities enjoyed by an older people’s group which meets every second Tuesday in Shalom House, Cliftonville Rd
The group also regularly hold workshops, have discussions with guest speakers, and enjoy tasty brunch and dessert!
Originally called ‘Positive Futures’, the group are now working on becoming constituted and have elected their own office bearers and committee members. They are also coming up with ideas for a new name – so watch this space!
As well as courses and activities, the group also enjoy lots of days out during the year and are very sociable and friendly – new members are always welcome!
